CANcorder

- The Power Data Logger for the Diagosis of CAN Networks and Recording of Process Data

Overview

IXXAT's CAN data logger "CANcorder" is a cost-effective and powerful tool for recording CAN messages independent of a PC.

Intelligent trigger functions allow a specific recording of CAN messages before and after a freely-definable trigger event. Such trigger conditions can be an error frame as well as an identifier or data within the data field. Errors which appear sporadically can be recorded and loaded into the PC for further analysis.

The CANcorder is available with one or two CAN channels (11 bit or 29 bit identifier) and allows data to be recorded in single or dual mode. Due to the large buffered data memory of 4 MB, up to 200,000 messages can be recorded. The memory can be used flexibly for up to 128 different trace records.

By using the included Window-based software tool, the CANcorder can be easily configured. The tool also allows the trace data to be uploaded and stored in different formats for further analysis on the PC.

Besides the manual configuration, the CANdb import functionality allows an easy configuration of trigger events and filters by using the signal names and values which are defined in the CANdb database. For this the respective are entered via Drag&Drop into the CANcorder trigger/filter configuration window.

Due to the Sleep-Mode (automatic power-down after a specified time with no bus traffic) and the optionally available Internet connection via GSM module/cell phone (option TeleControl), the CANcorder is particularly of interest for mobile applications in passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The TeleControl option allows events to be signaled by SMS and up-loading of Trace records via GSM-module/cell phone.

Due to the easy handling and configuration the CANcorder is also an indispensable tool for the long-term monitoring of industrial machines and systems and to record operation data.

Highlights

  • Easy configuration without knowledge of programming with a dialog-oriented Windows program
  • Two CAN channels (single or simultaneous recording)
  • Bus interfaces for low and high speed applications (ISO/IS 11898-2 and ISO/IS 11898-3)
  • Recording of messages using standard (CAN 2.0A, 11 bit) or extended CAN format (CAN 2.0B, 29 bit)
  • Recording of data, error and remote frames with time stamp
  • Configurable message filter for recording of specific data only
  • CANdb import functionality for the easy configuration of trigger events and filters
  • 4 Mbytes data memory for up to 200,000 messages, variable memory usage for 1 to 128 separate trace records
  • Configurable sleep mode function with wake-up by CAN, RS232 or external trigger input
  • Recording manually or automatic in start/stop or trigger mode. Triggering on identifier, data field, external trigger input, or by using the remote control
  • Trigger input (TTL, 5V) and trigger output (TTL, 5V)
  • Configuration and upload of recording via RS232 (max. 115.2 Kbauds)
  • Data format of the recording can be selected for further processing (ASCII, canAnalyser, etc.)
  • Support of remote inquiry/remote configuration via modem/GSM (option TeleControl)
  • Freely definable SMS-transmission for status-/event signaling via GSM/cell phone (option TeleControl). Solid mental case
  • Manual cable remote control, CANcorder RC (option)
