Development Boards & Add-on Hardware

-From Evaluation to OEM Integration

*Development Boards

In combination with a Development Board and other Add-On hardware, Phytec insert-ready OEM Single Board Computer modules yield an evaluation platform enabling easy assessment of the features and functions of target microcontrollers.

Phytec Development Boards are fully equipped with all mechanical and electrical components necessary for the speedy and secure implementation and subsequent programming of Phytec Single Board Computer modules. Simple configuration of jumper pins readies the Development Board's connectivity to any compatible Phytec module, which plug pins-down into the receptacle connector on the applicable Development Board. Interface signals (RS-232, RS-485, CAN, Ethernet, BDM-JTAG) are routed from the controller and applicable transceivers to the break-out pins on the modules. When mounted on the Development Board, these signals are, in turn, broken out from the module to DB-9 and other applicable interface connectors on the Development Board, enabling easy access to primary communication signals.

*Add-On Hardware

Download of user code to the module from a host-IP is enabled via RS-232, with the help of Phytec FlashTools, or JTAG/BDM/OCDS for modules supporting devices with on-chip debug interfaces.

Phytec Development Boards featuring an Expansion Bus take this modular concept one step further. Add-On Hardware such as the GPIO provide additional hardware -sucha as LEDs, a DC brushless motor, potentiometers, push buttons and peripheral device connectors - to simulate and test controller features on the underlying modules. The Bare PCB expansion board enables easy implementation of user-designed peripheral hardware and circuitry, as well as break-out of controller signals, on its wire wrap area.

Once programmed, Phytec SBC modules can be removed from the Development Board environment and inserted into target hardware.

*kitCONs: Dedicated Evalboards

The kitCON is a high-performance, EURO-format-sized (160 x 100mm) evaluation board. All peripheral hardware needed for immediate power-up is on-board's standard wrap field (90 x 60 mm). In essence, the kitCON integrates a Phytec stand-alone insert-ready SBC module and a Development Board on a single PCB. Phytec kitCON boards are featured in Starter Kits from such silicon manufacturers as Infineon and Silicon Storage Technologies
